Clubhouse is a Place Chefs are Gathering to Heal
The audio-chat, membership-only app is quickly becoming a group therapy session for the culinary industry.
I’ve been regularly checking into Clubhouse, the new audio-only app that’s garnered more than eight million members since its inception last spring, for conversations varying from improving your social media platforms to race relations in the business community to culinary industry issues.
The latter has truly made a lasting impression on me as leaders in the food and beverage industry have gathered from every corner in the world to discuss how they should make the industry better in rooms with provocative names like “UnF*ck The Industry.”
For them, it goes far beyond the superficial. While menu planning and trying to decide new ways to drive customers into establishments is important, what’s at top of mind is the community healing within. Many of them meet daily to candidly talk about all the demons that haunt the industry.
As one chef/restaurateur perfectly put it: “We need to take care of ourselves before we take care of other people.”
If these very important discussions continue on this track, when everything fully opens back up, the industry will be better than ever.
