Catering to the Family-Friendly Crowd
I head over to WGN Morning News to spotlight a few Chicagoland venues showcasing the best of family-focused dining.
I’ve always felt that many restaurants were missing out on a gold mine by not catering to families. And while there are a great number of chain restaurants, cafes and diners with them in mind, I believe the offerings could be so much better. Also, newer, trendier restaurants could cash in with kids’ menus and/or offer special family dining earlier during off-business hours.
Children’s palates are more sophisticated than ever, and as younger, hipper parents educate themselves on foods and menus, that information trickles down to their offspring. While everyone’s retooling their menus and concepts to stay ahead of the game during this pandemic, it’s also an opportunity to consider adding a kids’ menu that’s an extension of their brand.
In the meantime, I had the chance to highlight some of my favorite establishments in Chicagoland that are catering to hip, family-friendly crowds. See the video below from WGN Morning News.
